Introduction

Many years ago, my brother Jake and I were discussing useless items for sale here in America and how they truly proved what a spoiled first-world country we live in. Some of these gadgets are the envy of Brookstone and Sharper Image1, and don't really have a purpose. Or, they have multiple purposes, and it's silly to put them together. The device that started this conversation was of course, the Talking Flask. I can't tell you where we saw it or how it worked, but it was ridiculous

Not too much longer after this conversation - perhaps a year or two - I found this item at a holiday gift store. Yep, it talks. Not an actual flask though, so it isn't exactly what Jake and I found.

A few years later, Think Geek started selling the Nerdtendo GameBooze. The Nintendo Game Boy decoration is just that, which is pretty cool.

As we venture through life, I will share examples of useless items, or "talking flasks" with you. We can judge together just which of these little items is helping to turn the cog of the downfall of society, or just perhaps laugh at the silliness of it all.

1 - I couldn't remember the name of "Sharper Image" so I Google'd "useless electronic crap" and it came right up!
